Moong Dal Chila
Moong Dal Chila is a very healthy snack. Also it is very simple to make and easy to digest. Generally it is had in breakfast or as an evening snack. You can have it with coriander chutney or tomato chili ketchup or tomato sauce. This dish is rich in protein and thus a good protein source for the vegetarians who miss it by not eating non vegetarian food.
Preparation of batter
Soak Moong dal for about 30 minutes in water to make it soft enough for grinding. Remove the dal and grind it into fine paste, add 1 chopped onion, 1 chopped tomato, dhaniya patti (coriander leaves), green chili chopped, salt, black pepper powder, haldi (turmeric) powder ,and red chili powder in the batter, add ginger if you wish and mix it well adding some water to make the batter of medium consistency.
Heat half spoon oil on nonstick frying pan and spread two table spoons of batter on the pan to make a round Chila. As the bottom part gets cooked, roll it over carefully without breaking the Chila and cook the chila till it becomes light brown.
The Moong Dal Chila is ready to serve, enjoy this dish with coriander chutney or tomato chili ketchup or tomato sauce.
Another variation of this dish is Green Whole Moong Chila where Green whole moong is used instead of Moong Dal.
If you wish you can add some Urad Dal also in making the batter.
